 graded_fr_logo_for_pr_use.jpg January 2012 - Box Office open for TAH's concert on 11 February 2012 at the Tacchi Morris Arts Centre starring  Fascinating Rhythm (one of the best Ladies choruses in the UK) & their special guests, gold-medal ladies quartet Havoc and the brilliant male quartet, fresh from qualifying for the 2012 national finals, The 4getmenots. December 2011 - Unfortunately, TAH's Old Vic Cafe had to close on 21st December - although a huge success in some areas (providing thousands of hours of training and work experience opportunities for homeless people) the cafe was losing money and, given the other financial pressures faced by TAH, that could not be allowed to continue. A sad day.

October 2011 Chief Executive, John Shipley, appeared on BBC Radio Somerset to talk about the effect grant cuts have on organisations like TAH and the people we are trying to help.

October 2011 - TAH are absolutely thrilled to have won the award for Somerset Charity of the Year 2011 at the Somerset Business Awards. A real recognition of the quality and value of our work.

September 2011 - Ewen Lappin-Cook, until recently TAH's Media and Communications Officer, ran the Bristol half-marathon and raised £500 to help our work. Thanks Ewen!

September 2011 -  Great news! Taunton Deane Borough Council & Sedgemoor District Council have confirmed that they will fund TAH's Rent Deposit Bond Scheme for a further year thereby helping more and more people to access good quality private sector housing.

August 2011 - The James Norie Memorial Football Match and Fun Day took place - great match with lots of stalls and other events topped off by a raffle with prizes galore. Everyone at TAH is massively grateful  for the funds raised. Pictured are Neal Norie, Jeremy Browne and John Shipley talking about the day.

March 2011 - TAH are very proud to announce that, having won a very competetive tender exercise, we have been awarded the contract by Somerset County Council to provide support services to 12 single homeless people at Dampiet House in Bridgwater. This is TAH's first accommodation-based project outside Taunton and we look forward to welcoming Julie and Paula - the two existing project staff - to our organisation when we start work there on 1 April 2011.

February 2011 - The annual Taunton Soroptomists' Swimathon took place with TAH chosen as one of the local organisations to benefit from the event and entering our own team - 'Waving Not Drowning'

February 2011 -  TAH Chair, Dr David Edmondson, gratefully received a £3,000 cheque from Taunton FC Manager, Paul West, and Blackbrook Youth Trainer, Neil Rogers following the James Norie Memorial Football Match in 2010.

February 2011 - A local 13 year old girl, Beki Upham, has released a single - All I Need - and is donating all profits to TAH. The song is available on MySpace, ITunes or Amazon with a CD on sale at The Old Vic Cafe. Thanks Beki!

February 2011 -  TAH have been honoured by being chosen as the main organisation to benefit from the Taunton Marathon and Half-Marathon to be held on 3rd April 2011. Thank you!  

January 2011 - The Great Western Chorus of Bristol, current British Chorus Champions, held a concert at the Tacchi Morris Arts Centre in Taunton to raise funds for TAH. A fantastic show and much needed funds raised.

October 2010 - Dr David Edmondson has been elected as the new TAH Chair, succeeding Terry Cawley whose three year term of office had expired. All at TAH are grateful to Terry for his hard work and commitment and wish David well in his new role.

September 2010 -  TAH was visited by HRH The Duke of Gloucester who saw The Old Vic Cafe and the Alfred House Training Centre before officially opening the new reception at Lindley House.  

August 2010  -  John Shipley, TAH's Chief Executive, has completed a tandem skydive from 15,000 feet to raise funds for TAH. Thanks John!

July 2010  -  Jeremy Browne MP visited TAH to meet some of the students from Bishop Fox's Community School who have spent work experience week with TAH.

June 2010 - The Old Vic Cafe has now officially opened for business. Based at 90-91 East Reach in Taunton, the cafe offers high quality food and drink in a comfortable environment whilst giving homeless people the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and qualifications. A meeting space at the rear is available to local community organisations, businesses and others.

February 2010  -  Refurbishment work has now begun on Alfred House, formerly TAH's Head Office. It will reopen in due course as the TAH Training Centre, providing residents with the opportunity to develop skills in cookery, literacy, numeracy, IT, painting & decorating etc

February 2010  -  TAH has now moved into a new Head Office on the upper floor of The Old Vic Cafe (formerly the Victoria Inn). Work continues on the refurbishment of the ground floor cafe and meeting room, both of which will open later in the year.

January 2010  -  TAH has begun the operation of the SmartMove Rent Deposit Bond Scheme funded by central government, Taunton Deane Borough Council and Sedgemoor District Council and operating throughout those two districts. SmartMove provides deposit bonds for single people who could live in the private rented sector but are unable to afford the deposit. This exciting new venture is TAH's first work outside Taunton.
